Traps & Ladders - a free outdoor aerial and dance performance

Immerse yourself in the underwater world of Miaritch Oyster Harbour. On Saturday 16 November 2024, Southern Edge Arts premieres a new aerial and dance work at Emu Point. The fish of Miaritch Oyster Harbour feature in a melodrama of life and death as they guide each other through fish traps and ladders to survive in this changing world.
Combining the powers of culture and science, this original performance sparks hope for climate restoration and the resilience of ecosystems and humans.
This project is inspired by the cultural knowledge of Menang leaders, the collection of The Museum of the Great Southern and the ecological work of Oyster Harbour Catchment Group.

Free community performance on the shores of Miaritch Oyster Harbour. Arrive at Emu Point (Boat Ramp end) from 6.30pm for the performance that begins 7.30pm. BYO picnic, chairs and rugs.

Presented by Act Belong Commit, sponsored by City of Albany and Southern Ports. Southern Edge Arts is supported by the State Government of Western Australia through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Regional Arts WA.
