“Young people’s stories were heard, skills were seen, and passions were
shared”, says Southern Edge Arts’ Lead Teaching Artist Cassy Turner.
Showcase 2026 was officially our best-attended showcase yet! On Saturday, 27 June 2026, a nearly full house gathered at the Albany Entertainment Centre to witness an unforgettable evening of daring acts, joy, and creativity from the talented young people of Kinjarling Albany.
Flying High and Sharing Stories
Spectacular performances on the trapeze, silks, acrobatics, and theatre filled the stage as the crew from Southern Edge Arts delivered their greatly anticipated annual showcase. More than 100 performers flew through the air, beautifully accompanied by a sensational live band led by local legend and multi-instrumentalist David Rastrick.
Our Actors Club and Theatre Ensemble took to the stage to present original comedic drama that got straight to the heart of what it means to be young today.
Celebrating Our Youth
Throughout the term leading up to the show, our performers focused on the SEW-Arts (Social and Emotional Wellbeing in the Arts) framework, specifically focusing on 'Managing Pressure' and 'Working in Groups'. Their hard work, growth, and dedication absolutely shone through under the spotlight.
It was a truly special evening celebrating the immense courage, resilience, and personal achievements of our community’s young people.
Thank you to Healthway, our wonderful partners, and everyone in our incredible community who came out to fill the seats and support our young artists! View the full program for credits here.
