<Simon Clarke

is a professional theatre artist with 16 years experience in performance, dramaturgy, writing and direction. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (Bachelor of Dramatic Art – Acting) he has worked in a broad range of artistic mediums. He has worked extensively in professional theatre with companies such as Spare Parts Puppet Theatre and Black Swan Theatre Company. He is passionate about the value of regional communities and the ability of quality arts experiences to make significant contributions to the development of those communities. Simon has a collaborative approach to performance and finding the performer in everyone.

Symantha Parr  >

is a dance tutor & Workshop Coordinator. She has a Bachelor of Dance from The Victorian College of the Arts. In 2011 she choreographed, impressions on the paper ghost through my faded mind, as the opening event for Paperartzi. An excerpt was performed at the WA Dance awards in Perth and Denmark’s Brave New Works festival. She is an experienced dance teacher, who choreographs for SEA’s shows amongst other projects. She is totally passionate about dance, and is always inspired by student’s improvements in ability and confidence in dance and loves to see them get up and give it a go.
















 

Christine Ritter

Prior to accepting the General Manager position at Southern Edge Arts, Christine was the Executive Officer of the Denmark Arts Council, which has grown in stature, reach and renown during her tenure. She has been a small business operator, running a cafe, starting an arts promotion company and coordinating touring shows. She was a member of the Denmark Chamber of Commerce and managed the accounting of MLC Paul Llewellyn’s electoral office.


 

< Beth O’Neill

has been a workshop trainer with SEA since 1999 and has trained with nationally and internationally renowned performers (including South Africa’s Zip Zap Circus, Rodleigh Stevens, and Skadada). She has transferred learnt skills into the design and development of various community events and is passionate about working with children and using circus as a way to break down barriers to empower and challenge youth.
 

 

 

Sandy O’Doherty >

has had a diverse arts career based around painting, sculpture and education since completing her training at Curtin University in 1994. She has designed several shows for SEA in the past. She has been curator for The Albany Boat Show, where she also facilitated workshops for people with disabilities. In 2012 her Steampunk creations will be clothing SEA students for our Carnivale D’Mar. Her recent ‘Steampunk it up’ workshops were described as, “possibly the best day ever”, by a young participant.

Simon Woodward

graduated as an actor from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1986. In 1996 he developed a street performance, 5 Angry Men, which toured internationally until 2004. Simon teaches comedy and mask, drama and is the band leader of our ‘school of rock’ class. Simon has a free form, relaxed and encouraging teaching style and can engage well with the boys in the class.


Jane Davies

has been working in theatre and puppetry arts for over 20 years. She has worked as a performer, maker, designer, co creator and project/workshop manager on both theatre company productions and community-based projects.

Kiara Allan >

is Albany born and bred, joining Southern Edge Arts at the age of 5. Beginning in the Smircus class and working her way up to the performance/advanced class her history is filled with SEA events. Kiara performed her first circus show with SEA at Mt Lockyer Primary School at the age of 7, enjoying it so much she has been doing it ever since. After over ten years of performing with SEA Kiara has begun a traineeship in the office that will grant her a Certificate three in business as well as giving her the opportunity to teach other kids and share with them what she’s passionate about.

Cassy Turner

has been a dedicated SEA member since 1999. She has been participating in Circus, Hip Hop and Drama classes since she was 5 years old. She was one of the founding members of CircaSEA. Which has toured around the state performing for Circus Joseph Ashton, the 2012 WA Circus Festival, as well as many community events. In 2011, Cassy attended the National Institute of Circus Arts in Melbourne and graduated with a Certificate 4 in Circus Arts. She is passionate about all areas of performance and enjoys sharing her skills for the benefits of others.

Lynda Moylan

isn't from around here. Growing up west of Sydney she then went country to study Theatre/ Media at Charles Sturt University in Bathurst (NSW). She studied drama in education, community theatre, masked theatre, costume making and design. Lynda has performed at many festivals around the world including the Edinburgh Fringe performing a dance, drama and cabaret show. Lynda has a love for circus, street theatre and clowning.

Jeremy Jongsma >

Jeremy Jongsma AKA Moondog J, has over six years of experience facilitating Hip Hop workshops for young people in schools and community centres throughout Western Australia. He has studied and taught abroad in the US & Canada and has also worked alongside legendary hip hop workshop pioneers/artists Morganics and Optamus (from Downsyde). Apart from Hip Hop he also delivers workshops in many other styles of movement, music and performance and specializes in fusing art forms.
His hip hop workshops are hugely popular and he is a great role model for the boys.
